Inkjet printing with inkjet head as a weapon

May 17, 2023

During the drupa exhibition, Landa Nano digital printing made people's eyes shine and attracted the attention of visitors and the media. It has also become the most beautiful landscape of this exhibition. This exhibition, digital printing has become the most talked about topic. Canon, Epson, and Fuji Xerox have all introduced their own digital presses; Heidelberg and KBA have also collaborated to launch corresponding digital presses. The wave of digital printing has come with the arrival of Drupa and has come to the global printing industry.

Digital printing can be mainly divided into two major fields: laser principle digital printing and inkjet printing. Laser original digital printing is an earlier digital printing method. Xerox iGen4 sheet-fed digital presses, Kodak NexPress S3600 sheet-fed digital presses, and HP Indigo W7200 web-fed digital presses are electrostatic digital presses. This type of digital printing is affected by its own speed, and it cannot meet the needs of commercial printing. Therefore, it is generally applied to printers and some digital printing machines whose speed is not very fast. Inkjet printing is another digital printing method. It is also the most favored printing method today. In 2011, the output value of inkjet printing accounted for 4.2% of the total output value of the printing industry, and accounted for 0.5% of the total output. With the gradual decline in the share of traditional printing market production, the proportion of inkjet printing products has risen strongly, and this is exactly what ink jet printing is attractive to printing equipment suppliers. It is estimated that by 2017, the share of inkjet print may be less than 1%, but its output value will increase significantly and it is expected to reach about 7% of the total output value of the entire printing market.

Inkjet printing can be divided into two types: bubble type and Piezoelectric type. The bubble jet technique is to provide a heating plate on the wall of the inkjet head tube, and the selected heating device is heated by the electric pulse so that the nozzle ejects ink droplets. When heated to a certain temperature, the ink droplet becomes a bubble and bursts, and is ejected through the nozzle through the heating chamber and falls onto the surface of the substrate. The number of droplets that fall on the surface of the substrate can be controlled by changing the temperature of the heating device so that the image can be printed. Piezoelectric inkjet technology places many small piezoelectric ceramics near the nozzles. These piezoelectric ceramics have the characteristics of expansion or contraction. Under the action of both ends of the voltage, they will be deformed. (As the image information is different, the voltage at both ends will occur. Change, the degree of deformation of the piezoelectric ceramic will also be different), then the expansion and contraction will make the nozzle of the ink ejected onto the substrate surface. The inkjet head consists of many tiny ink channels, and the number of ink channels is the number of nozzles in the inkjet head. In general, the more nozzles, the shorter the time it takes to complete the ink jet process, the faster the print speed, and the higher the print image quality. Bubble type is also called continuous inkjet, and piezoelectric type is also called on-demand printing.

Inkjet printing is known as a future printing method that can replace offset printing, but its development has been constrained by inkjet heads and ink. Among them, the inkjet head is the main part of the Inkjet Printer and is the core part of the printer. The quality of the ink jet head directly determines the performance of the ink jet printer.

I. Saier

Xaar was established in 1990 and is a world-class inkjet head manufacturer. So far, IPR has obtained 4 patents and 84 patent applications from local jurisdictions. Xaar has nine nozzle licensing licensees, including Brother, Konica, Sharp, and Toshiba TEC.

In 2003, Xaar launched its first batch of spray heads, which fully integrated its unique, patented grayscale technology. Then Saier gradually withdrew from the Xaar318, Xaar500, Xaar1001 and other nozzles. The Xaar1001 can eject ink droplets of different sizes, making it ideal for packaging and printing, as well as for displaying single-image prints with fine-grained requirements, and its printing speed can be doubled. This unique TF patented continuous ink supply technology can provide extremely high levels of machine uptime. This is very important to improve the production efficiency of ceramic manufacturers. Xaar Marketing Director Mark Alexander said that Xaar will continue to develop this rapidly growing market and further develop the best print head products to meet the special needs of this market.

At present, Xaar nozzles are widely used in the market. Most inkjet printers use Xaar's inkjet heads, printing width of 17.4mm.

Xaar electronic nozzle with 128 small pipes, with the original 128 shape, size does not change much, the biggest difference is that the electronic nozzle has a built-in filter, can filter the impurities of the ink, play a role in protecting the nozzle, the ink The compatibility is stronger and the service life of the nozzle will be extended. With its own electronic device, it can control the temperature adjustment, and is more conducive to the ejection of ink, similar to Konica's nozzles. The ink droplets are smaller and the accuracy is quite high. There are two main models: XAAR electronic nozzle electron70-W/70PL, XAAR electronic nozzle electron35-W/35PL.

Most of the nozzles manufactured by Xaar are made of Teflon materials, so the stability of use cannot be guaranteed, and the accuracy will be greatly reduced after a few months of use.

Second, Canon In 1980, Canon developed the inkjet printer Y-80 based on bubble jet technology. In 1999, Canon adopted independent cartridge technology, launched inkjet printing equipment using 4 picoliters of ink droplets, and began to develop FINE ( Full-photolithography InkjetNozzleEngineering) inkjet head technology; inkjet heads with multi-sized nozzles capable of simultaneously ejecting 2 picoliters and 5 picoliters of ink droplets were introduced in 2002; more than 6,000 nozzles were manufactured in 2004 with 1 picoliter of ink Drop, inkjet head with the highest resolution up to 9600dpi; inkjet inkjet head with FINE technology launched in 2005, equipped with an independent cartridge system that can be replaced individually for each color, can eject only 1 picoliter of ink droplets, up to 9600dpi High resolution of 2400 dpi. In September 2007, Canon launched the 12-format large-format inkjet printing equipment such as imagePROGRAFiPF5000, iPF700, iPF600, and iPF500, using high-density inkjet heads using FINE technology, each with 2560 With 12 nozzles, the 12-color ink has a total of 30,720 nozzles. Each nozzle can eject a minimum of 4 picoliters of ink droplets.

Three, Epson ESPON nozzle in the era of Japanese photo machine has always been an independent gimmick, in MIMAKI, ROLAND, MOUTH series of Japanese photo machine can see the figure of the EPSON nozzle, the current domestic equipment also began to use EPSON's DX5 lead development of large-scale domestic Photo inkjet printers, among which the more well-known are fair, Temeine, Honghua, Li Cai, Fu Telai and other domestic manufacturers.

Fourth, Kyocera Kyocera nozzle products, from an ink nozzle (InkNozzle) at the fastest every 60,000 times per second (drive frequency of 60kHz) to eject ink droplets. There are 2656 nozzles in the inkjet head, and about 150 million dots (Dots) can be ejected per second. In order to increase the speed, measures such as 1) increasing the driving frequency, 2) improving the nozzle shape, 3) adjusting the waterproof membrane material, etc., have been taken. To improve driving frequency, piezoelectric actuators, flow path structures, etc. have been redesigned. In terms of nozzle shape, the linearity of ejection is improved by improving the accuracy. It is said that the discharge accuracy can be improved by changing the material.

The inkjet head KJ4B-JF06 can print up to 60,000 jets per second per nozzle (drive frequency 60 kHz), and a single nozzle containing 2,656 nozzles has the ability to eject approximately 150 million dots per second. In the field of inkjet on-demand ink jet printing, its printing speed is the fastest in the world.

It is understood that the inkjet head used by Kanda is Kyocera's inkjet head.

Five, Konica Minolta nozzle is a double row into the ink tube, flow pressure evenly. Guarantee print quality. Some brands are single row.
512 Konica spray heads are fully enclosed spray heads, waterproof and anti-aging. Since it is fully enclosed, no short circuit or the like occurs. Longer life of the nozzle, no need to change the nozzle, this will greatly save maintenance costs. The accuracy is high, the printing speed is fast, the accuracy of 14pl is 1440dpi, the precision of 42pl is 720dpl, and printing 1pass is equivalent to some 2pass.

Six, Fujifilm (spectrum)

Spectra Corporation was the first to produce office printing thermal foaming nozzles. After the advent of HP, it eventually gave up on the development of an industrial piezoelectric nozzle, which was later acquired by Fuji Electric of Japan. Its nozzles are characterized by small ink droplets (corresponding to high precision), very high jetting frequency (fast speed), and not very “accentric” to ink. The United States Witt was the first brand to use Spectra nozzles and was also the most affected in the global market. The well-known inkjet printer, Spectra's problem is that the nozzle price is too high, although Witt has sold hundreds of units in China, but several domestic inkjet printers using Spectra nozzle manufacturers have not become mainstream products and are mainly exported. It is a kind of stainless steel packaged precision lightweight container nozzle, all components can be quickly moved, suitable for superior performance printers, the main models are four types of series: Spectra series, Inspira series, Endura series, Performa series.

VII. Ricoh nozzles.

Ricoh acquired Hitachi's nozzle technology research and development department. Hitachi used two nozzles for good use, HITACHI256I and HITACHI256II, VUTEK5300, and VUTEK3300. Each of these machines used 16 HITACHI 256I printheads. The HITACHI256II printhead is mainly used in HPScitex: Idanit, Pressjet machines, HPscitexPressjet and HPtuberjet8300 use 150 HITACHI256II nozzles, this record seems to have not been broken until now, the current domestic manufacturers only use Taiwei machines. I remember that in 2009, Taiwei was promoting Hitachi's Sprinklers, 2010 DIGITEX in Fuzhou started with GEN's GEN47Pl nozzle.
